The University of Ghana’s 55th Inter Hall Athletics championship is scheduled to come off from Wednesday, 10th to Friday, 12th October 2018 at the UG Stadium at 2:00 pm each day.
Athletes from all the residential Halls, City Campus and Distance Education will participate in both track and field events. The Competition is being sponsored by Total Ghana Limited and Promasidor will be under the patronage of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University, ASA, Professor Samuel Kwame Offei who is the Chairman of the University of Ghana Sports Advisory Board.
The UG Inter-Hall athletics has always showcase good and quality athletes over the years and this year’s will be no exception as the likes of Raja Lagbla Komla, Francis Yin and Emmanuel Nimo all beneficiaries of the University of Ghana Policy on the Admission of Athlete Students (UG-PAAS) will be threat to the likes Joseph Mensah and Blance Otoo in the Sprints. In the female category Comfort Esinam will once again seek to cement her name in the 100 and 200 meters. However, she will face strong competition from another UG-PAAS beneficiary Esther Ocloo.
The athletics coaches for the school will be watching keenly as they finalise their team for the 2018 West Africa University Games (WAUG) slated for Port Harcourt, Nigeria from 30th October to 13th November 2018 as well as the Mini Ghana Universities Sports Association Games (GUSA) to be hosted by Kwame Nkrumah University for Science and Technology, Kumasi in January 2019.
The competition will be graced by Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu (Vice-Chancellor), Professor Kwame Offei (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs (ASA)), The Registrar (UG), Prof. Godfred Alufar Bokpin (Ag. Dean of Student Affairs), members of University of Ghana Sports Advisory Board, members of Sports Directorate Management Committee, Management of the various Halls, Student Sports Council (SSC) and the Executives of Students’ Representative Council (SRC). Other invited guests include Dr. Daniel Mckorley (Honourary Sports Patron), UG Sports Ambassador and Patrons and Mr. Saka Acquaye (Deputy Director, Technical, National Sports Authority).
