Black Stars attacking duo Abdul Majeed Waris and Kevin-Prince Boateng failed to take part in Ghana’s first training session at the Estádio Rei Pelé in Maceió on Thursday afternoon.
Both players picked up slight injuries in Ghana’s final warm up game against South Korea on Monday, June 9 in Miami Gardens, Florida (USA), a game Ghana won 4-0 by courtesy of Jordan Ayew’s first hat trick for the national team and captain Asamoah Gyan’s record-breaking 40th international goal.
Waris, 22, picked up a thigh injury and limped off just 4 minutes into the game, while Boateng on the other hand suffered a slight knock in the same game.
The medics have therefore given an assurance the two players will be fit and available for Ghana’s opening Group G game with the USA next Monday at the Estádio das Dunas in Natal.
Waris, who will be making his debut at the Copa Mundial, has been tipped by many as one of Ghana’s brightest talents to make an impact at the World Cup finals, while Boateng is expected to use his rich experience gained four year ago in South Africa to help the team better their quarter-final berth.
