FC Barcelona’s Neymar is yet to sign a new contract with the Catalan club, and he could quit the team in the near future, according to a Spanish football expert.
Guillem Balague, a renowned Sky Sports pundit and football expert, was asked if Neymar considered a move to Manchester United in the recent transfer window.
Although he said the Brazilian never wanted to leave in the summer, Balague did suggest that the Brazil captain could seek a future move away from the club in order to fulfil his desire to become the best player in the world.
“Categorically, no,” he said.
“Is he considering doing so in the future? Categorically, yes.
“It is going to be the saga of the next 12 months or more – his new contract with Barcelona.
“FCB want him to sign it now, he is not in a rush. Why?
“I think he feels he will not be the best player in the world while at Barcelona, with Messi leading the team.
“So he has to decide if he stays and waits for Messi to move on, or goes to a team that will build around him.”
The Red Devils were said to be in talks with Neymar in the summer, as confirmed by the 23-year-old in a recent interview.
The forward has found the net 57 times in 98 games for Barcelona, while he has assisted in a further 27 goals.
