Mali easily brushed aside Korea DPR with a 3-0 win at the Estadio Fiscal in Talca, meaning the African champions are through to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015, with a wonderful strike by Amadou Haidara and a brace from Sidiki Maiga.
Haidara scored a classy opening goal for Mali as early as the eighth minute. He kept his composure and capitalized on a foul throw by Korea DPR throw by first controlling the ball with his chest, creating space in his second move, before taking a third touch with a thunderous shot from about 25 yards that flashed past Ri Chol Song.
In the 37th minute, Maiga gave his side a 2-goal cushion. Boubacar Traore swung in a free-kick close to the penalty spot, and Maiga made his way past the Korea DPR defense to slot into the net with a superb first touch past Ri.
Maiga sealed the win for his side in the 48th minute. He latched onto a through ball by Haidara behind the Korean defensive line, and fired his first-time effort inside the side netting of Korean goal for his second of the day.
Mali will face Croatia in the quarter-finals in Chillan on Sunday at 21:00 GMT, while Nigeria plays against giants Brazil on Sunday in Vina Del Mar at 18:00 GMT.
