Former Black Stars captain, C.K. Akunnor, has reaffirmed his belief in the current Black Stars squad to break the 34-year trophyless jinx by winning the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Gabon.
Ghana were handed a tough draw in Group D featuring Egypt, Uganda and Mali, who in recent times, have been a very difficult opponent to play against.
But the current coach of Dreams FC, is hopeful that the Black Stars will count on their experience which can take them very far in the tournament.
He said: “We are in a very difficult group I must admit and, our opponents our wary of the quality we possess, but the Black Stars can count on their experience and go far and probably win the trophy.
“Many of them have made more then two appearances at the tournament and they also have World Cup experience which is very vital in such tournament,” he told Adom Fm.
Akunnor was captain of the Black Stars before Stephen Appiah took over in the early 2000’s.
