Shanghai SIPG have secured a place in next year’s Asian Champions League after finishing second in the Chinese Super League.
Sven-Goran Erickson’s side confirmed their place in the continental competition after defeating Liaoning Whowin in the final day of matches on Saturday.
Shanghai missed out narrowly on the League title after finishing the season with 65 points, just two points behind winners Guangzhou Evergrande.
The “Reds” managed 19 wins, 8 draws and 3 losses after 30 rounds of matches.
Gyan who joined Shanghai SIPG in the second half of the Chinese Super League season will yet again be making an appearance in the Champions League after having a successful campaign in the competition with his former Club Al Ain.
The Black Stars skipper was able to score 4 goals in 10 appearances for the Club this season.
The Club last made an appearance in the Champions League in 2012.
